* Rin Tin Tin Pays Tribute to K-9 War Heroes
The world renowned Rin Tin Tin will pay tribute to K-9 War Heroes during the 46th Annual Edison Township Memorial Day parade to be held on Sunday, May 25.
The two-mile parade will begin at 2 p.m. in the Stelton Section of Edison and start at Blossom Street, turn right on Jefferson Boulevard, then Left onto Plainfield Avenue, Cross Route 27, and proceed to Central Avenue Park.
Accompanied by Master Trainer Debra Hnath, Co-breeders Tommy and Jan Hall and his personal photographer John Hnath, Rin Tin Tin, will be joined by several other four-legged parade participants to honor the thousands of canines who have served during wartime.
Following the parade, Rin Tin Tin will be available for photo opportunities at Shep’s Pet Grooming Salon located at 1849 Lincoln Hwy/Route 27 in Edison, New Jersey until 5 p.m.
On Monday Rin Tin Tin will make an appearance at Pet Valu in Hillsborough New Jersey 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
His Tuesday schedule includes a 10 a.m. appearance at Woodbrook School in Edison, New Jersey. An appearance at Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville will follow and he will conclude the day with as a 5:30-10 p.m. appearance at Commerce Bank Ballpark for the Somerset Patriots game against Camden Riversharks.
He will complete his appearance schedule on Wednesday morning with two programs at Weston Elementary School in Manville, New Jersey at 8:45 a.m. and 10 a.m Borough Administrator Gary Garwacke will present him a proclamation declaring May 28 “Rin Tin Tin Day” in Manville.
Rin Tin Tin , the 10th line descendant in the amazing 90-year-old lineage, is 11 months old and resides at El Rancho Rin Tin Tin in Crockett, Texas. He has earned his American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen title, is being trained in Tracking and will be exhibited in obedience competition at the 2008 German Shepherd Dog Club of America’s National Specialty Show to be held in Beaumont, Texas Nov. 2-9.
Rescued from a bombed German War Dog Kennel in Lorraine, France by Cpl. Lee Duncan in 1918 during World War I, the first Rin Tin Tin went on to star in 26 movies for Warner Brothers and was credited for saving the young motion picture studio from bankruptcy.
Over the past nine decades the Rin Tin Tin progeny has been credited with amazing accomplishments including the training of more than 5,000 dogs for the war effort during World War II at Camp Hahn, California; a successful 1950s television series, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin; the presentation of Responsible Dog Ownership Programs throughout the country to children and adults and serving as Pet Assisted Therapy and Service Dogs to assist special needs children across the nation through A Rinty For Kids Foundation, Incorporated, (“ARFkids) a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
